The Gap Band...
That's what I'm listening to right now. Not that it matters to some, but some like to know what my Media Player library consists of. And once again if you don't know who the Gap Band is, then I feel really sorry for you.
Which brings me to today's rant. Close but no cigar... You know Charlie Wilson was the true sound behind the Gap Band. And while Charlie had a lot of sound-alikes, (I.E. Aaron Hall, R. Kelly, etc...) there's only one Charlie Wilson. Hence, there's only one Gap Band.
If you really had in your mind that you wanted to listen to the Gap Band, you can't listen to Guy and expect to feel the same. Just won't work. Yeah Aaron sounded like Charlie, but well... We all know the rest.
If you get use to something, then it's hard to just replace it with a look-alike or a sound-alike. It's not quite the same. You won't be satisfied until you hear the Gap Band. Guy won't due unless you're ready to hear Guy. I guess all this has to do with replacements.
It's not easy to just replace people and their places in your life. You have to be ready to move on. And for the life of me, I'm just not ready. And everyone keeps telling me that's best for me. And well it just isn't what I'm feeling right now.
See I'm a fan. A true ryde or die fan. And everyone knows that if you are a true fan of someone or something, you just can't stop being a fan. You will always be a fan. No matter what. Even if that group fell off, you still go to their concerts when they come to town. You still listen to their music, you buy new music, and no matter what you never replace them.
I hope I didn't lose anyone in this analogy. Some folks don't quite get my thought process. Not that it's for anyone to get. I'm me and only me. And I guess when I'm ready to stop being a fan, I will. But until then, I guess I'm just hopeless.
